The Oregon Suzuki Institute

The Oregon Suzuki Institute

is a week-long program held every summer at George Fox University. The institute provides an opportunity for Suzuki students to receive lessons, perform, and take classes in order to reinforce their ongoing studies at home. Our typical Institute schedule and classes will be returning in 2022 when we can be back in person, at our facilities. We can't wait to see you then!

Texas Style Fiddling

Course Description: Wondering what changes are being made to the SECE curriculum after seeing the latest article in the Suzuki Journal? Come join trainers Sharon Jones & Danette Warren Schuh as they share the details and help us prepare to incorporate the changes into our teaching. 

 

Keeping Your Motivation as a SECE Teacher
     10-hour Enrichment Course - Prerequisite: SECE Level One
     with Danette Warren Schuh
     Monday - Friday, June 28 - July 2, 9-11 am PDT $195

 

Course Description: Are you waiting to take SECE Stage Two? Or Three or Four? This enrichment course will help keep you motivated while we “pull up the weeds around the seeds and sprinkle the ground with water”. We will delve into literacy, parent education, observations in class, online teaching strategies, and many other topics to keep us motivated until “the carrot comes up!” Just as we always knew it would.” This course is not a curriculum revision course. 

 

Importance of Early Literacy in SECE
10-hour Enrichment Course - Prerequisite: SECE Level One

Monday - Friday, June 28 - July 2, 1-3 pm PDT  $195

 

Course Description: In our SECE classes, storytime is a very important activity. This course will address reading to babies and toddlers in the SECE class ad educating parents on the importance of early literacy. We will also discuss how to continue the reading process into the private studio with the long-term goal of developing excellent music readers.
